Fox News did a story on Rod Rosenstein threatening Republican staffers on the House Intel Committee with an investigation. Rosenstein called that a lie and then called for an investigation of the Republican staffers. Confused? Don’t be, he’s just another Deep State denizen.
Let’s have some fun with this shall we? Rosenstein had said he would subpoena their emails, phone records and other documents. Republicans should comply. Tomorrow they should send him one page of emails with every word redacted except “a” and “the”. Then tell him that there are 31 pages total but it will take 17.5 years before they can be processed. Then get yourself a gullible stooge like Jeff Sessions to step forward and make the claim they believe you. Then find a dishonest press (This will be easy) to disparage Rosenstein for investigating.
Rosenstein argued that “as an American citizen charged with the offense of contempt of Congress, he would have the right to defend himself, including requesting production of relevant emails and text messages and calling them as witnesses to demonstrate that their allegations are false,” the DOJ official said.
“That is why he put them on notice to retain relevant emails and text messages, and he hopes they did so. (We have no process to obtain such records without congressional approval.)”
Rosenstein “never threatened anyone in the room with a criminal investigation,” the official continued.
So, what Rosenstein is really trying to do is to distract from the fact that he is an embarrassment to the DOJ and the human race. The sooner he goes away, the sooner the DOJ can work on restoring their reputaion but only if he takes Jeff Sessions with him.
